How To Choose The Size Of The Mattress For Yourself
How To Choose The Length Of The Mattress
Add +20 cm to your height
The length of the mattress should be 20 cm longer than the height of the sleeping person. For example, if your height is 180 cm, then a mattress of 200 cm will suit you, with a height of 170 cm, a mattress of 190 cm will be enough.
How To Choose The Width Of The Mattress
The mattress industry has its own standards. Mattresses are divided into single, one-and-a-half and double. King-size mattresses and round mattresses are worth noting separately. Below we will analyze each standard in more detail.
- Single Mattresses
Width: 80-90 cm
Classic mattress size for one person. If there is little space in the room, then a product with a width of 80 cm is suitable.
- One And A Half Mattresses
Width: 120-130 cm
If you sleep actively, roll often, spread your legs and arms, we recommend a one-and-a-half bed mattress. Sometimes, if circumstances require it, you can accommodate two.
- Double Mattresses
Width: 140-200 cm
Such a mattress can accommodate two people. Models with a width of 140 cm will give a basic level of comfort. The width of 160-180 cm will make you feel more comfortable. For large people, a mattress width of 180-200 cm is recommended.
Round Mattresses: Spacious And Original
A round bed will not be small in any case. Even for one person, the diameter of a round mattress is on average 2 meters. For two – 220 or 240 cm. Currently, the choice of round mattresses is as large as rectangular – there are spring and springless models, high and low. Sleeping on a round bed is very comfortable – there is a lot of space, you can lie down as it is comfortable.
How To Choose The Height Of The Mattress
Selection Rules
It is necessary that the height of the mattress rises slightly above the bed frame, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to lie down. Also consider the weight: under fat people, the mattress will bend more. In general, the standard height of a mattress for adults varies between 15 and 35 cm.
Mattress Sizes For A Child
Models for the youngest usually have dimensions of 120×60 cm (L x W). For older children, mattresses are used, the width of which varies from 70-80 cm, and the length is 140-160 cm.
Children’s mattresses will always be lower in height than adults, since babies have shorter legs, and it is uncomfortable for them to get up from higher models. If for adults the most optimal height is 17-25 cm (premium mattresses are made higher), then for children – from 6 to 12 cm, but spring children’s mattresses can reach a height of 18 cm.
Differences In The Size Of Mattresses
They have their own parameters and differ from their Pakistan counterparts in a step of 10 cm. So, in Asia there is no such thing as a one-and-a-half bed, for them a mattress up to 140 cm wide is a single model.
Single options: 80×160, 80×180, 80×200, 90×190, 90×200, 120×200.
And double beds: 140×200, 160×200, 180×200, 190×200, 200×200.
When buying, pay attention to the units of measurement so as not to confuse inches with centimeters. If you don’t want to do this kind of math, then buy a mattress from the same country of origin in which the bed was made.
Non-Standard Mattress Sizes
A product of a non-standard size will be needed if you have ordered an exclusive designer bed of unusual dimensions or shapes (rhombic, oval, etc.) or use old furniture that does not fit into modern parameters. In some cases, non-standard mattresses may also be required due to the characteristics of the user’s figure (for example, if the height is more than 2 m or very heavy).
In addition to the dimensions (the pitch is usually 5 cm), when ordering a mattress according to individual measurements, sometimes you can also choose the design of the product, the material of the filler and cover, the color. Such a purchase will cost a little more, but you will get a mattress that is completely satisfactory in all respects.
